Yuxin is back from KKH

Finally, Yuxin & mommy were back to home sweet home after a 9 days stay in KKH. Although Yuxin still have slight diarrhoea now but she is well with no fever & vomit. God bless...

You must be wondering how come stayed so many days in KKH. Here is the explaination :

DAY 1 (Sunday)
Mommy & Daddy were very worried on Yuxin's fever & diarrhoea so we decided to go KKH. Initially, the junior doc said we could go back home with medication to be taken at home. However, after seeking advice from senior doc, we were told to stay for observation.

DAY 2 (Monday)
Fever kept go up & down. Diarrhoea for 15x. Medicine on fever & diarrhoea was given except antibiotic. Samples of blood, urine & stools were taken for tests.

DAY 3 (Tuesday)
Fever continued to go up & down. Diarrhoea for 7x. Test results were out and all were negative, including rotavirus.

DAY 4 (Wednesday)
Fever could stop for about 1/2 day and then came back. Diarrhoea 8x. This day, doc said if no more fever for 24 hours, Yuxin could discharged on the following day. So mommy is looking forward on the next day to discharge.

DAY 5 (Thursday)
Fever stopped but suddenly returned so cannot go home. Diarrhoea 8x. This evening, Yuxin started to vomit (2x).

DAY 6 (Friday)
Again cannot go home due to fever come & go, come & go. Diarrhoea 8x. There were three times her stools were very watery & extremely smelly (Mommy almost fainted) that it even wet the bedsheet. Again Yuxin vomited twice this evening. This day, a senior doc came along with those usual young docs to check on Yuxin. They were worried on Yuxin's continuous fever. Finally, they decided to take another round of blood & stools tests. Beside this, they also decided to gave Yuxin antibiotic. The nightmare came. The doc need to insert a 'needle' on Yuxin's hand so that they can inject the antibiotic daily. During the process of insertion, Yuxin was crying & screaming for pain. Mommy & Daddy were not allowed in the room and were waiting outside. Both of us almost wanted to cry too because Yuxin was so much in pain.

DAY 7 (Saturday)
Diarrhoea 4x. Fever more or less settled down. Daddy was furious as he did asked for antibiotic in the first place but the doc said no need. If given earlier, Yuxin doesn't need to suffered for so many days. So do you think fever has gone and it's the end of story? Wait... some more coming up. Yuxin vomited 9x this day. Her vomit condition worsen during the night (7x). Whatever she ate or even drink, she would throw up. In the end up she was on drip.

DAY 8 (Sunday)
Fever had completely stopped for this day. However, Yuxin still has diarrhoea for 8x. Although, after medication, the stools had changed better but the frequency doesn't seem to decrease. This day, Yuxin was not suppose to eat or drink anything. This was very painful for mommy & daddy as Yuxin kept asking for food but we could not gave her any. Also, the doc took another blood sample for testing on salt content. Yuxin cried badly again.

DAY 9 (Monday)
The results were out. The stools report indicated that Yuxin was infected by salmonella bacteria. At first, mommy was worried and disppointed that we could not go home again. However, the senior doc gave us the green light to go home. The reason that we could go home was the antibiotic that Yuxin was having was the correct cure for this bacteria. We could go home with the diarrhoea medication will do.

Now Yuxin is recovering at home. Her diarrhoea condition is getting better with lesser quantity and frequency. Let's wish Yuxin can recovered completely soon.

I can totally understand the pain about the IV for the anti-biotics. Lynnsy had one when she was 3 days old...she looked like a robot cos they had to put a wooden 'board' to keep the needle in place. She was so small then...
Did the doc mention how yuxin get the virus(or bacteria) from? It sounded very serious, esp when she vomited so many times!! thankfully she's better now...U muz take good care of yourself too!!

Yuxin was so scared of nurses and docs after the anti-biotic injection. Everytime, anyone come near her 'robot arm' she would screamed and cried. The docs didn't mentioned how she get the bacteria. I checked thru internet, it could tranmitted thru getting in contact with animals faeces, raw eggs, raw meats, even some fruits & vegetables, etc...
