Potty Training - Partially Successful

For the whole of last week, Yuxin has been urinating in a potty. Hurray! After many months and times of trying to let Yuxin use potty and the results are showing now. At first, I was worried that she may not use the potty even when she is three. Now, my worries are gone.

Mommy was very 'kiasu', she actually bought three different types of potty to train Yuxin. Initally, I bought those standard sitting type potty. Then it was not successful. So I bought another one, which is those traditional type that I used when I was small. This traditional potty sometimes will stick to Yuxin's backside when she stood up. After sometimes, I bought another one which is an 'add-on' type and it is to place on top of adult potty. However, in the end Yuxin uses the very first one that I bought.

Although Yuxin can urine in the potty on her own now but she still don't know how to make 'big business' in the potty. For a few times, she done her businesses onto her shorts. She need to do it in a standing position. Usually, I will put back diaper to let her pass motions comfortably. If not, she will feel awkard and cry and don't know how to 'pang sai'. Hahaha...

Mommy cut her hand badly

Today, I had my first and horrible experience of 'lossing so much blood by a cut' in my life. Just don't know why I can be so clumsy. I dropped a bowl while I was washing it and it broke. I didn't even know how the broken bowl cut my hand. The very moment I broke the bowl, my hand was bleeding furiously. The blood kept pouring out. I felt painful & giddy. After a little rest I went down to clinic to see our family doc. The doc gave me a jab and said the cut is not very bad, it can do without stitch. He kept explaining to me, when such thing happened don't panic, just get a clean towel, press & hold on the cut to stop the bleed.

For me, when I saw my hand bleeding I was at a lost. I put my hand under running water to wash away any impurities. It was Yuxin's grandma who told me to get a towel to press on the cut. Then she applied chinese medicine "青草油" onto the cut, which is very painful. Luckily Yuxin had recovered from fever which started on last Saturday and doesn't need my full attention on her. She was obedient when the accident happened. She only said kept saying "mommy 流血". What will happened if Yuxin keep crying when she saw mommy was bleeding badly? I cannot imagine... Now, I can understand something better. It goes "I'm a mother. I cannot afford to fall sick. If I'm down, who is going to take care of my child."

Yuxin is back from KKH

Finally, Yuxin & mommy were back to home sweet home after a 9 days stay in KKH. Although Yuxin still have slight diarrhoea now but she is well with no fever & vomit. God bless...

You must be wondering how come stayed so many days in KKH. Here is the explaination :

DAY 1 (Sunday)
Mommy & Daddy were very worried on Yuxin's fever & diarrhoea so we decided to go KKH. Initially, the junior doc said we could go back home with medication to be taken at home. However, after seeking advice from senior doc, we were told to stay for observation.

DAY 2 (Monday)
Fever kept go up & down. Diarrhoea for 15x. Medicine on fever & diarrhoea was given except antibiotic. Samples of blood, urine & stools were taken for tests.

DAY 3 (Tuesday)
Fever continued to go up & down. Diarrhoea for 7x. Test results were out and all were negative, including rotavirus.

DAY 4 (Wednesday)
Fever could stop for about 1/2 day and then came back. Diarrhoea 8x. This day, doc said if no more fever for 24 hours, Yuxin could discharged on the following day. So mommy is looking forward on the next day to discharge.

DAY 5 (Thursday)
Fever stopped but suddenly returned so cannot go home. Diarrhoea 8x. This evening, Yuxin started to vomit (2x).

DAY 6 (Friday)
Again cannot go home due to fever come & go, come & go. Diarrhoea 8x. There were three times her stools were very watery & extremely smelly (Mommy almost fainted) that it even wet the bedsheet. Again Yuxin vomited twice this evening. This day, a senior doc came along with those usual young docs to check on Yuxin. They were worried on Yuxin's continuous fever. Finally, they decided to take another round of blood & stools tests. Beside this, they also decided to gave Yuxin antibiotic. The nightmare came. The doc need to insert a 'needle' on Yuxin's hand so that they can inject the antibiotic daily. During the process of insertion, Yuxin was crying & screaming for pain. Mommy & Daddy were not allowed in the room and were waiting outside. Both of us almost wanted to cry too because Yuxin was so much in pain.

DAY 7 (Saturday)
Diarrhoea 4x. Fever more or less settled down. Daddy was furious as he did asked for antibiotic in the first place but the doc said no need. If given earlier, Yuxin doesn't need to suffered for so many days. So do you think fever has gone and it's the end of story? Wait... some more coming up. Yuxin vomited 9x this day. Her vomit condition worsen during the night (7x). Whatever she ate or even drink, she would throw up. In the end up she was on drip.

DAY 8 (Sunday)
Fever had completely stopped for this day. However, Yuxin still has diarrhoea for 8x. Although, after medication, the stools had changed better but the frequency doesn't seem to decrease. This day, Yuxin was not suppose to eat or drink anything. This was very painful for mommy & daddy as Yuxin kept asking for food but we could not gave her any. Also, the doc took another blood sample for testing on salt content. Yuxin cried badly again.

DAY 9 (Monday)
The results were out. The stools report indicated that Yuxin was infected by salmonella bacteria. At first, mommy was worried and disppointed that we could not go home again. However, the senior doc gave us the green light to go home. The reason that we could go home was the antibiotic that Yuxin was having was the correct cure for this bacteria. We could go home with the diarrhoea medication will do.

Now Yuxin is recovering at home. Her diarrhoea condition is getting better with lesser quantity and frequency. Let's wish Yuxin can recovered completely soon.

Please please please... Yuxin get well soon

From last mid-night until this morning was my worst nightmare. Yuxin was having high fever with no sign of getting down on the temperature even after medication. She had fit twice. (she also had diarrhea yesterday 4x and mid-night 1x) The fit happened once in the mid-night and the 2nd time was in this morning when we were on the way to the clinic. We ran like crazy from first clinic but closed, second clinic but doctor was not here yet and finally third one. I rushed in first and cried for emergency. The doctor came immediately and gave her medicine to stop her fit. After examing Yuxin, doctor said must maintain her temperature lower and any sign of fit again must send her to KK hospital immediately. Since there's nothing I can do now (Yuxin is sleeping) except to take turn with daddy to rub her body and head to keep her cool, I pray and pray hardly... please get well soon or at least drop a bit more on her temperature.

Yuxin is down with cough, running nose & a blue black

Yuxin is sick again. She had mild running nose on last Saturday and I gave Yuxin some chinese medicine and hope that she would recovered like previous time. Unfortunately, she did not recovered but got worsen on the following day. Too bad for Yuxin that she was unable to attend my friend's wedding on Sunday and so did not play with her little friends.

For the blue black, it was still a mystery to me how she could fell so badly on last Friday. She was not running, not jumping and not climbing yet she could fell with a loud bang on the floor. Poor thing... She cried very badly with her left face and left hand red. Then not long after the fall, the blue black appeared on her face. Until now, the blue black is still on her face. Hopefully, the blue black will be gone soon.

Yuxin can wear her shoes occasionally!

Last night, Yuxin wear her shoes all by her own. Then, she took her mommy's shoe and throw outside the door. This means that she wanted to go out. I always 'throw' my shoes outside the door to go out so she learn this from me. This is not the first time she can wear her own shoe. Her first time happened quite sometime ago which her mommy cannot even remember. Sometimes she got it right but most of the time she couldn't able to put on her shoe and she will get frustrated.

Usually, at late hour I would not allow Yuxin to go out however last night was exceptional. I walked with Yuxin around the neighbourhood and sometimes I had to carry her. We came back quite late, slightly after 11pm. Luckily, Yuxin went to sleep shortly after we cleaned her body and feed her with milk. Sometimes I feel that it is good to let Yuxin have a walk at night so she can sleep early and better but not too late of course.

Yuxin slap my face!

Last Friday midnight, while I was sleeping I experienced a shock of my life. Someone slapped my face really hard and I jumped up the bed. I was shocked and turn around to see who slapped me and I saw my naughty Yuxin smiling at me. For all my life, I was never been slapped on my face while sleeping. This is no fun. It was really painful. I could never imagine a two year old can slap me so painful. Yuxin really give me a horrible fright. In the end, I scolded Yuxin madly and she even laughed at me again. She looked very happy to see me in a shock. This make me really really angry and I gave her some 'red decorative hand prints' in return for her 'nice and unforgettable gift' to me. She did learnt her lesson and for the following nights before sleep, she will say 'cannot slap mommy'.

Cry & cry non-stop

I know my little Yuxin is a stubborn girl. She is very persistence. She always wanted what she wants. If she cannot get it, she will make sure she'll get it. Or maybe we pampered her too much? That she is having this behaviour...

Yesterday I caught her playing with a 'plastic' scissor so I decided to keep it and explained to her that she cannot play with scissor. (Actually, the scissor is not sharp and is meant for kids but I still don't want her to play because she is too young to differentiate real and fake scissor.) Immediately, Yuxin burst into tears. She cried and cried non-stop and kept saying she wanted to play with scissor.

The crying went on and on and I kept explaining to her but end up I give up and closed my ears. Yuxin kept crying for 30 minutes non-stop! Finally, Yuxin's mommy cannot take it anymore and gave her some 'red decorative hand prints'. Then she finally know that I am angry and stop crying after a few minutes.

By now, Yuxin was already very tired and went to take her nap after drinking her milk. I thought finally it's over and no more crying but when she woke up she cried again. I believed she had a dream. She immediately stood up and ran to the door, crying... She wanted me to open the door and go out with her.

Aiyo... not again... I console her and said 'You can only go out after you had taken your bath and dinner.' But Yuxin wouldn't listen. She kept crying and pulling me to the door. I don't know how long she cried for this time but I know I cannot always give in. In the end, I won the battle. Yuxin finally calmed down and stopped crying.

Then, at night suddenly she told me 'Cannot play with scissor' and she repeated it to me this morning. I am quite satisfied this time as Yuxin learn a lesson - "SCISSOR... NO NO..."

Weird neighbour's wife gone "CRAZY"

ALAMAK! Today, the weird neighbour's wife gone "crazy". It was like very dramatic. It was around 12.45pm when things happened. I had just finished eating my lunch and was clearing the table. Suddenly, I heard someone screamed very loudly and something fallen. It was our neighbour's stuff fallen.

At first, I thought maybe our neighbour quarelled but after a few minutes the wife came back again. And this time is no joke! She screamed very loudly, throwed things, lie down on the floor and ran around. She was like "鬼上身". She behaved abnormally and she wore short skirt, pinkish red from head to toe. (Usually she wear very simply) Her husband couldn't stop her.

Yuxin at first wanted to see but her grandma quickly closed the door. I couldn't know exactly what happened later because I need to look after Yuxin. Once a while, I did peep through the door hole. Sometimes I could see her outside and sometimes couldn't. I only saw her poured water, sprinkled water with a long leaf and washed the corridor floor. Sometimes I heard her said something loudly but I could not understand since she spoke Hokkien. Sometimes I heard her cried.

In the end, the police came and they carried her to hospital. Everything ended at around 3.00pm. The whole corridor was a mess. She peel and throw oranges skin outside her house and many other things. Her son was scared and he stayed in his next door neighbour. You must be wondering where is the husband 'cum father' when the wife behaved crazily. He is no where to be seen... At first, he was around and he tried to stop his wife but she wanted to beat him. Then after a while, he was gone, I did not saw him around except his son. How could a husband ran away when his wife is sick?

To be continue... The husband came back at around 3.45pm. He was clearing the mess now.

Weird neighbour

Since I already wrote on my rude neighbour and why not I write about this weird neighbour. This middle age man, married and with a son in Primary school, has an unusual habit. He is a person who like cleaniness and cannot stand a bit of dust, chinese called 洁癖. He just stay next door.

The story is like this (which I heard from Yuxin's grandma) : The previous owner of our house is an old lady who stayed in this unit for more than 30 years. Half a year before Yuxin's daddy shifted in, this man shifted in and became the old lady's neighbour. After a while, I think this old lady could no longer stand this neighbour so ended up shifted house. In fact, this old lady shifted into the same block but different unit. So you can imagine an old lady who stay here for more than 30 years also wanted to shift. Actually, the area we are staying is an old neighbourhood that's why other neighbours will tell you some history.

So how come the old lady could not stand this neighbour? Here is my story and experiences. Every day this man will washed the corridor floor with no exception even during Chinese New Year. Ok?! He washed his corridor is his business but he will pour water onto our door step and sometimes water will come into the house. Therefore, we have a cloth put outside the door to clean away the water. Will you feel frustrated if your neighbour pour water onto your door step everyday?

Not only this, every morning when he wakes up, he will take out his blanket or pillows or whatever and beat it outside his house, either at the kitchen window or the corridor. Besides this, every time he come back, he will take out his T-shirt and 'waved/shaked' at outside of the corridor. It's like his shirt is very dirty that he has to 'waved/shaked' very strongly. Whenever, Yuxin saw him topless, she will show me a 'shame shame' action. Then, when he come back his routine is clean the house first so his wife and son have to wait outside for him. Only after he finished cleaning the house, the wife and son can go in. Then after that, he will sweep the corridor floor and then pour water. You don't think is only water, he even pour detergent also. So sometimes we need to go out and happened that he just wet the floor, we have to be extra careful because we have to walk on wet and slippery floor. Can you imagine we have young child and old lady and how dangerous it is if they fall?!

There was an incident which happened before Chinese New Year that really make us mad. This man hang a few 'dried fish' (I think it is 'Yu Piao') onto a bamboo stick and hang it outside the corridor. Those 'dried fish' are very smelly and he hang it diagonally across the corridor! So every time we walked pass we need to bend down our head to cross over and worse still when wind blow, our house is filled with smelly odour. Can you take it or not?! Yuxin's grandma did asked this man why you cannot hang inside your own house. Can you imagine what is his answer? He said hang inside the house very smelly! Bastard! Hang inside your house was smelly so hang outside not smelly, huh?! Initially, we thought maybe he hang for one or two days then forget it. Who knows after 2-3 days still there so Yuxin's uncle could no longer stand it, he shifted the bamboo stick to one side. At least shifting to a side we don't have to bend our head to walk over. And then after a few more days, the odour was not that smelly. Can you guess how long this man hang his 'dried fish' outside? If I didn't remember wrongly, it was almost a month. I remembered he hang out the 'dried fish' in the beginning of January and removed it before Chinese New Year in February.

One more thing, some people will paint their house before CNY so this man does the same. He not only paint his house, he also bought white paint to paint the whole of his corridor. Can you imagine?! Hahaha... then his effort has gone down the drain because in March our block was scheduled for repainting. So his corridor painting last for only a month. Then the story not yet end. When it is our floor turn for painting, he pasted his windows and door with paper. It looked ugly and horrible. All the workers were very curious why this man has to cover his house like that.

Last month, we arranged a carpenter to do some renovation works. The carpenter had to bring a lot things like tools and renovation materials therefore most of the things he had to put outside the corridor. I was hoping on that day that our neighbour come back only after our carpenter finished his work. Unfortunately, this man came back before our renovation completed. So I asked Yuxin's daddy to tell this man to wash the corridor floor after the work completed. I could not remember exactly what this man said but I know he said something sarcastic back to my husband. Then he went back into his house. After sometime, he came out with a can of insecticide. He sprayed insecticide onto the floor/on our renovation materials!!! He was like inspecting the floor very carefully looking for ??##**%%!! Or he did it purposely because he was unhappy that all the stuff dirtied his floor??!! I was very furious when I saw him spraying insecticide. Later, he came out and put a pail of water outside. I was worried that he would washed the floor and destroy our stuff (it's wood) so we told the carpenter to bring in all his stuff into the house. Although in the end, the man did not washed the floor when the carpenter was around but I was still unhappy that he sprayed insecticide.

Besides this, there were also some story before we came back. He did not allow us to put flower pots and shoe rack and metal pail (for burning incense and praying stuff). He said you can put but he will still pour water onto it! This man almost (but didn't) cause a fight with our family (we were not back yet when this happened)

Sigh... What can I say? I have never encounter such person in my life. Only came back for a year and I came across and encountered so many things. For those who are staying comfortably without any problematic neighbours, if you want to shift house, do re-consider and choose your house carefully. You not only have to look inside of the house but 'outside'(neighbours) is also very important.

Rude neighbours

Well, this rude neighbours things happened quite some time ago and I didn't have the intention to write it. However, something happened today and pissed me off so I decided to share it. Today, when Yuxin came back from school and walked pass this neighbour door, she said "Uncle bye bye" and the Uncle has no response. Then again around 12 noon time, this Uncle's daughter was about to go to school and again Yuxin waved bye bye to 'Jie Jie' a few times and also get nothing, no response. This really makes me angry.

This is a long story. In the beginning of this year, this little girl (our neighbour) started her Primary One. Whenever Yuxin saw 'jie jie' going school, she will waved and said bye bye. After sometime, this little girl starts to come to our house. At first, she just came to door step and said bye bye. After that, she requested to come in play for a while. And then later, she came over whenever she liked. Then the problems started.

Everyday Yuxin came home after 11 am and little girl will came over when Yuxin came home the very first minute and requested to come in. She will called at the door for Yuxin to come out. OH DEAR!!! I need to change and feed Yuxin and do other stuffs. The very moment Yuxin heard 'jie jie' she don't want to change or eat. Then worse still, on weekend little girl came over and played with no restriction on what time to go home. FAINTED!!!

There was a Saturday afternoon, when we need to let Yuxin sleep and asked her to play alone in the living room, she don't want and make noise in the room so Yuxin cannot sleep. Then 2nd time, we insisted not letting her go into the room and let Yuxin sleep. The little girl make noises and show us faces. The little girl's parents and grandma never came and look for her and she wanted to stay here for many hours, even we asked her to go home she don't want. We don't mind the little girl came over and played but please be well behaved and also look at the timing.

Do you feel this is terrible? Wait till you hear this... One day, when I was going to send Yuxin to school, the little girl's father came out and asked me to help on his girl's homework. Actually, the way he asked for help was not very polite. Of course, I am willingly to teach the father. Then few days later, the father came out to asked on homework again when we were going out and we helped to teach how to do the homework. Then BIG PROBLEM came!

Ever since then, the little girl came over and asked me to teach her homework almost everyday. So I invited her into our house and teach her. Then, when I teach her, I found out that she was not listening, not wanting to learn from me but just want me to give her an answer. Furthermore, I not only have to teach one or two pages but is almost all her homework and even tuition homework!!! She brought all her Maths and English homework and asking for an answer! I am very furious. Everytime I teach her, she show me faces and never listen and just sit there wait for my answer. Sometimes I asked her how come you didn't learn from school or tuition and she gave excuses that school and tuition never teach. Worse still, she never called me Auntie or asked in a polite way to teach her homeworks and also after finished teaching she didn't even said thank you or bye bye!!!

What makes me more frustrated was Yuxin was curious and wanting to write and draw on the little girl's homework and I need to handle Yuxin and keep her away in order to teach. This is very difficult! Sometimes Yuxin cried and I felt bad. I was unable to keep Yuxin away even though I offered Yuxin other papers and pencils.

Later, we had no choice but to close our door when I'm not free. (Usually, Yuxin's grandma will open the front door to let the house more airy) However, at night, the little girl still came over when the door was opened again. Although, the little girl has attitute problem I still teach her and for Yuxin, she will played with her daddy or her uncle. However, teaching her really make me go crazy.

Then June school holiday came! One day, as usual, I came back with Yuxin from school. (Yuxin still went school at that time) Then when we just started to have our lunch and for me to feed Yuxin, this little girl came. I told her to come back later because we were just having lunch. So only after about 15 minutes, she came back again and asked at the door "Have you finished?" Oh God! I need at least 30-45 mins to feed Yuxin and then I have to eat on my own. So I told the little girl to go back and come back later. After Yuxin's grandma finished her lunch, she went to close the door. She didn't want the girl to disturb us when we were eating. After I finished my lunch, I opened the door again. However, since then, the little girl never come to ask homework. No more...

It is after this day, the little girl's father never smile to us when we meet each other on the corridor. At first, me and Yuxin's daddy still smile to him and wonder why he no longer smile to us like before. Then after thinking about it, I guessed it's because the very last closed door incident. Why like that, huh? I helped to teach your daughter so you smile to us and now your daughter no longer came for homeworks so you don't want to smile to us. Hello man, I teach your daughter is on good-will and I don't owe you anything.

Why there is such a neighbour? The father and daughter both the same, having attitude problem. The little girl up to now since day one never even call me Auntie and never greet anybody.

Classic Video - Like Father Like Daughter

This video was taken when Yuxin was one month & one week old. She has a lot of facial expression even when she's sleeping. Do you feel Father & Daughter look alike? :P

Haha... Yuxin's daddy sure will complain to me. Why you load this video?!

Yuxin singing and making funny faces

Last night, I managed to capture Yuxin on video using my webcam for the very first time. Enjoy viewing and have a good laugh!

Watch out for Van 5047!!!

Today, as usual, I fetch Yuxin back from school and on the way back we met a terrible van driver. Every time before I cross the car park road, I always tell Yuxin to make sure there is no car then we cross. Today, as usual I was holding Yuxin's hand and cross the road. Suddenly, this van driver drove very very fast into the car park. We were only half way cross the road. My very first instinct is either to quickly carry Yuxin cross the road or I pull Yuxin quickly to cross the road. I decided on the 2nd option because the first one is too late to react.

Luckily we managed to cross the road safely without any harm. This horrible, terrible, bastard young man van driver (car plate no. 5047) drove so fast into the car park and worse still he didn't even bother to slow down when he saw a child crossing the road. We were so near the van when he drove passed us. Another mother who is Yuxin's classmate's mummy also witness this incident.

Hello! Young man, this is a car park not racing car circuit! And who you think you are, "the son of 'dou fu' shop owner", ah! Nowadays, young people drive without manner and consideration. This is not your grandfather's road! Pandon my 'bad' words but I am really really very very furious and angry. This man has put my precious daughter in risk and harm.

If I have super power and how I wish I have super power, I will DEFINITELY PUNISH that man badly WITHOUT ANY MERCY!!!

Few days ago, I also encounter a 'no manner' young man. Sigh... That day I went out with Yuxin and on the way to MRT, she saw her favourite - 'Child Ride' (those 20 or 50 cents car ride for kids). All out of a sudden, she let go of my hand and dashed out toward the 'car ride'. At that moment, there was a young couple wearing school uniforms walking towards us. Bang! Yuxin fell down! The young man knocked her down. It happened so fast that I was unable to catch hold of Yuxin and I don't blame the young man. What made me unhappy is that, Yuxin cried very loudly after falling down and the couple just walked away without showing any concern. Are they rude? Or am I too fussy? What had happened to our society? No more consideration, grace, thoughtful, kind, concern, polite, etc....

Playing Pretend Games

Last Friday, Yuxin played pretend game with me all out of a sudden. In the afternoon, while playing with her toys, she suddenly took a toy container and walked towards the door. Then she said "去买菜! (Means go buy vegetables/food)". Hahaha... I was caught in surprise. She was playing pretend game with me! Of course, I played with her too. So then I said bye bye to her. Yuxin replied "回来了! (Means I came back)". I asked her "买了什么菜? (what food did you bought)".

The first time I asked her she couldn't reply me immediately. She was thinking what to say. So I helped her by asking "Did you buy fish or chicken or papaya....?" (Why I asked papaya, it's because recently Yuxin learnt this word through a TV movie commercial. Last time I did teach her but she couldn't remember. So can imagine how powerful TV commercial can be) Then she played this game with me for many times. Keep repeating 去买菜, bye bye, 回来了, 买了什么菜... Each time she told me she bought different items like papaya, fish, chicken, vegetables, carrot.

Then at night, she played pretend game again but this time is a different one. We were in our room and suddenly she wanted me to stand at one side. Then she said "罚站! 妈妈 naughty! 罚站! 打打! (Means Mummy naughty, beat beat, standing punishment)" She was pretending to be fierce and said it in an angry tone. Then she really came and beat me. Hahaha... can you imagine a Mummy being 'punished' by her 2 year old daughter... In the end, Yuxin came to me and said "疼疼! Sayang! (Means Loving you)" and gently pat on me. Hahaha... This day was full of fun and really unforgetable!

Yuxin's Handicrafts

Here are 2 handicrafts that Yuxin made in school. Of course with the help from her teacher. I suppose the 'Right Hand' one is the actual size of Yuxin's right hand.

Excuses for not sleeping... Part 3

Yesterday (Monday) night, Yuxin repeat her 'trick' again. As usual, after watching show and drinking milk, we switch off the lights to sleep. Only for a while, Yuxin climbed up onto our bed and asked for her 'baby'. This time I said 'NO, the baby was already sleeping, you should be sleeping too'.

Since she could not get her 'baby', she climbed back down to her mattress. Then she asked for milk. 'NO' was my answer. I told Yuxin that she just finished a bottle of milk so don't make any more noise and go to sleep. Then she kept on asking for milk a few more time but I still insist not giving her. So after a while, she slowly quiet down and willingly go to sleep. Why Yuxin just don't want to sleep early? Every night, she will only sleep after 12am. Yuxin, do you know Mummy and Daddy are very tired?

Excuses for not sleeping... Part 2

Yesterday night (It's a Sunday too), Yuxin tried to find excuses for not sleeping again. This night, I already expected Yuxin would not sleep early because she had a very late nap. However, I didn't expect her to repeat this 'excuse' pattern again.

Well, as usual, I asked Yuxin to promise me to sleep after drinking milk and watching her favourite Hi5 show. So everything went smoothly initially, she followed my instructions to off TV and lights and lay down to sleep after the show finished. After a short while, she suddenly said "Baby 在哪里?(Where is the baby?)" Just after finished saying this, she opened the door and dashed into the living room to look for her baby. This 'baby' is Yuxin's new and favourite toy baby. I bought it to help Yuxin on her potty training.

After getting her 'baby', she returned to lie down on her mattress. However, only after a short while, she asked for something again. This time she asked for milk. She had drunk a whole bottle of milk for less than half hour and she was asking for it again. So I asked her again to confirm whether she really wanted milk. In the end, I prepared half bottle of milk for her.

I was hoping she could fall asleep while drinking milk. Hahaha... Again wishful thinking... She finished the milk very fast and passed me the bottle. As usual, I put the bottle beside her mattress and our bed. Yuxin was very restless and could not sleep, turning here and there on her mattress.

Then she did something purposely for around 8-10 times (in fact, I lost count how many times). I think she did this purposely to make me angry and come down from my bed and asked her why you don't want to sleep. Then she could said she want to play. Of course, I didn't fell into her trap. Hahaha :P

So, what did she done actually? Yuxin got up, took her milk bottle, asked me to open the cap for her and she lay down to drink. Actually, she had already finished the milk and the bottle was emptied (Leftover maybe 3-5 ml only). Then after a while, she passed me the bottle and I capped it and placed it on the usual place. Then she got up and took her bottle to drink again and then returned to me. So this repeat for I don't know how many times.

Finally, I think she was unable to get my attention to get down from my bed, so she stopped her 'trick' and went to sleep. I was happy that I could control my temper and ignored her. If not, I would have scolded her and Yuxin might cry and make noise and we ended up with a sleepless night.

Excuses for not sleeping...

On last Sunday, Yuxin went shopping with Papa, Mama and Mama's family. She enjoyed herself a lot. She ran, jumped and climbed around everywhere. So this day, Yuxin did not have a proper nap time.

When we went back at 9pm+, Yuxin was too tired that she slept in the car all the way till home. I happliy thought she could sleep all the way to the next morning. Who know, Yuxin woke up in the middle of the night, 3am.

So Yuxin woke up, came to me and said "脚痛痛(Leg pain), 擦(Put on) Cream cream". Of course, I woke up and did what she requested. In my heart I know she was finding excuses not to sleep and I hoped that she would go back to sleep after I applied cream on her leg.

Hahaha... Wishful thinking... After a while, Yuxin woke up again. This time she said " 手痛痛(Hand pain), 擦Cream cream". Again, I applied for her and put her back to sleep. Guess what's next. "脸痛痛(Face pain), 擦Cream cream". The cycle repeat again.

Can you guess again what's next? " 额头痛痛(Forehead pain), 擦Cream cream". Oh my god! I told myself I must think of something to let her sleep. Finally, I offered her something that she could go back to sleep quietly. Hahaha... Very simple... I gave her MILK! Luckily, the milk saved my 'beauty sleep'...

No More Crying... Hopefully...

Well, the teacher really open the window for me to peep at Yuxin on Monday. As what she said, Yuxin really stopped crying almost immediately after I went out of the class. Then for the next 3 days, Yuxin did not cry at all. Yeah!

This morning Yuxin was throwing tantrum. She don't want to drink milk and don't want to get herself changed and don't want this and that. Of course she get scolding from me. So can guess what happened later. Cried at school again when I wanted to leave. Maybe she know that I was angry with her so she afraid that I don't want her. I really don't know what is the reason. Hope that Yuxin will not cry again at school and behave good everyday. Hopefully...

Why Yuxin cry at school???

Yuxin took a week of school break the last time when she was sicked. After she recovered so I sent her back to school. However, she cried when I had to go back. She want me to accompany her in school. Up to now is already 2 weeks and she still cried. I wonder what makes Yuxin change.

Yuxin only cried on her 1st week of school and after that she is ok. Why now she cry again? Last month she had a 2 week school holidays and she didn't even cry going back to school.

According to the teachers, Yuxin only cried for a little while and she return to normal self very fast. Today, I asked teachers whether any classmates bully Yuxin and fortunately the answer is no. The teachers want to let me feel safe and so they said next Monday she will open the window for me to see Yuxin. To make sure that Yuxin only cry a while when I want to go back.

Last week one of the teachers even asked me 'Am I pregnant?'. I was surprised and asked why. She said old tradition folk tales said 'a child sudden change of behaviour (more 'sticky') means you are expecting another baby'. Of course my answer is no at that point of time. So Yuxin you want a brother or sister? Ha ha...

Viruses, viruses GONE... To Daddy...

Well, finally Yuxin has recovered few days ago but her daddy caught the viruses. Now her daddy has almost recover and hopefully the viruses do not recycle to me.

Previously, when I was sicked it was very tiring for me because I still have to look after my little Yuxin. It is like you are horribly not feeling well, very sleepy after taking medicine but worse of all you cannot rest or sleep. Everytime I have to wait for daddy to come back so I can rest (hopefully...).

On a second thought, I think I really cannot rest even though daddy come home. Yuxin is STILL very attach to me now. Most of the time, she do not want anyone else at home except me. Now she even choose the person she likes to do things for her such as preparing milk, changing diaper, feeding food or bathing her, etc... and most of the time is ME!

Initially, I thought after sending her to school will improve this 'sticky' situation. However, until now she is still very 'sticky' to me. Everyday you can hear her says, "妈妈抱抱雨鑫走走!", "妈妈陪雨鑫!", "妈妈泡奶奶!", "妈妈睡这边!" and the most common words are "妈妈来!". I am Yuxin's 24hrs maid, protector, caregiver, angel and everything. Sometimes I am tired but I am happy and content to have a lovely daughter.

Viruses, viruses, GO AWAY!!!

My dear little Yuxin is sick for the pass few days. She started to have fever on Monday morning. I had brought her to visit doctor on Tuesday and hope that she can get well within 2-3 days. Unfortunately, she has recovered from her fever yesterday but her running nose and cough get worsen. So I brought her to see doctor again. Previously, she has to take 3 medicines but today is 5!!!

Why am I making such a fuss over Yuxin's medicines? It is because she has inherent one of her parents 'fine gene'. (I don't tell you who...) She is so scared of taking medicine!!! There was one time I asked her either you eat medicine or take painful injection and her answer is to take injection. I know that she may not know exactly or may has already forgotten what is injection like but my reaction is "Huh?? You want injection??". Deep in my heart I said "Oh Dear! Don't be like ......"

Well, here are some of Yuxin's reaction so as to avoid taking medicines...

(1) Run away.
(2) Cry loudly with big big tear drops.
(3) Ask me to carry her to walk around.
(4) Hug me or papa tightly like a koala bear with her mouth attached tightly to our shoulders.
(5) Ask for help. Depend on whoever is at home.
(6) Say "I want water" and keep drinking water from her water bottle non-stop so that I cannot feed her medicine.
(7) If I caught hold of her, she will struggle like hell. You are like watching WWF (wrestling) because I have to use my "scissor legs" to hold her down.

Sometimes it is like nightmares feeding Yuxin medicines but sometimes she is ok. Now everytime she finishes her medicine the whole family will cheers and clap hands for her "great achievement".

School Re-open!

Today, 25 June 2007, the school re-open. Although Yuxin only had a short 2 week holidays but it seem like she had totally forgotten about school. This morning I have difficulty waking her up. I kept telling Yuxin that she has to go to school and she kept saying '不要! 不要! 不要!'

Yuxin was angry with me initially for waking her up. She doesn't want me to change her and asked her grandma to change instead. So today is the first time Yuxin's grandma helps to put on her school uniform. Luckily she didn't insisted grandma to bring her to school and happily go to school with me. :-)

Yuxin says "Ang Moh"!

Today, just after feeding Yuxin lunch, grandma and Yuxin were watching a chinese TV show. There was a "Ang Moh" in the show and grandma told Yuxin : 'See see... Ang Moh' and she learnt to speak it immediately. Yuxin had just learn a new 'word' and she likes it and keep saying "Ang Moh, ang moh, ang moh..."

Yuxin learns to say '救命啊!' and she picks it up from TV too. Recently, there is an advertisement on pimples cream and the guy scream '救命啊!'

This is not the first time Yuxin pick up our words immediately. There was one day that I said 'jia lat' and she repeat what I said immediately. Initially, I am quite surprise that she is so fast in learning. Now I have to watch what I says. 'Oops... Be careful what I says...'

Chalet @ Changi

Last week we went Changi chalet for 3 days. Yuxin had enjoyed herself during the stay. She ran around the house, ride her tricycle outside and the most tiring part for parents and gong gong was to climb up and down the stairs.

There were lots of boats and ships and planes in Changi and Yuxin likes watching it very much. She will sing 'Row row row your boat' when she saw a boat. Also, she will scream when she saw a plane. She had also learnt a new word there and that is 'sea water'.

Guess what? Yuxin will sing 'Row row row your boat' during meal time. Why? Can you guess the answer? Try harder to guess...

Well, here is the answer : "When we ask her to eat meat." It happened suddenly on one day that I gave her a piece of meat to eat and she sang this song. Usually, I speak chinese to Yuxin and the pronounciation of meat in chinese sound similar to "row". Did you get it? Hahaha... Very smart, right? Hahaha... And so Yuxin sings "肉肉肉 your boat".

Everything is fun for Yuxin except those 'uninvited guest' which kisses her. She was biten by mosquitoes and bugs. Poor thing... Her right feet was swollen due to one of the bites. If Yuxin is playing, she will forget about the itch however when she start to rest she will complain about it and ask for cream. Luckily, her feet almost recover after 2-3 days.

Nowadays, chalet means 'children play time' to me. Mama and Papa will have to take turn to chase the kid around. Unlike previously, chalet means 'BBQ, games, chit chat, gossips, ghost stories, etc...' Am I old now? The answer is obvious.

There are some photos taken in the chalet and I will post it later.

Daddy's First Father's Day Card

Yuxin's Daddy get a card for Father's Day. Again, of course she 'make' it in school. Yuxin made the card on the last day of school (8 June) and she is going to have a 2 week school holiday.

I am quite envy because Daddy get something that can be kept for a long long time. How I wish I get a card too.

My First Mother's Day Present

A surprise for me! A gift from Yuxin to me for Mother's Day. She 'make' this gift in her school with the help from her teachers. I didn't expect to get a Mother's Day gift when Yuxin is only 2 year old. I'm really happy!
